Martin Jimenez BS in Geology
Martin Jimenez, Geology student at CSUB, was recently accepted into the Penn State AfricaArray summer research program. As a participant of the program, Martin will spend three weeks at Penn State learning about the geology and culture of South Africa. After the Orientation at Penn State, Martin will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for three weeks. The typical schedule includes a week-long collaboration with students at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) to design a field project followed by data collection at a field site. This program is all expenses paid, including travel, food and lodging.
In addition, Martin received $2,500 from AfricaArray to apply towards his education at CSUB. Martin is a Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) and S-STEM scholarship recipient. When asked how he feels about his upcoming summer research, Martin indicates "It is all really exciting. I hope it opens up a lot of career opportunities for me."
