Jaimi earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA and her MS in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University. She is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership. Jaimi started working in higher education while attending college and found her passion in helping students succeed. She has been with CSUB since April 2014. She is a strict vegetarian and aims to live a healthy, active lifestyle unless there's a good Netflix show on. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, biking, construction, and spending time with her family. Along with humans, her house includes 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 fish, and the occasional injured lizard (caught by a cat in the garage) or snail (because daughter insists on snails living a good life).

Anayeli was born in Mexico City and moved to Arvin, CA, at the age of ten. She graduated from Arvin High School and decided to pursue her higher education at CSUB. She earned a B.A. in Sociology in 2012 and a Masters in Educational Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs, in 2014. Anayeli has valued education since a very young age and loves the fact that her job consists of helping students succeed in their own educational endeavors. Anayeli is a vegetarian, loves animals, and enjoys spending time with her pets. One of her goals in life is to one day have a small farm where she can raise and care for different animals. She also loves listening to music, dancing, and traveling when it is possible.

Salvador Gomez-Pantoja, Academic Advisor
Sal was born in Bakersfield and raised in the little city of Arvin. Shortly after graduating high school, Sal moved to San Diego to pursue his college education. In 2014, Sal graduated from UC San Diego with a BA in Psychology and a BA in Spanish Literature. Sal then decided to move back to Bakersfield where he completed his Masters in Educational Counseling-Student Affairs in June 2016. As a fun fact, Sal moved to Barcelona, Spain for 3 months to study abroad. Some of Sal's interests include traveling, exploring, and trying new foods.

Jeannie Gonzalez, STEM Pathways Advisor
Jeannie Gonzalez graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Political Science in 2005 and began her career in higher education at the University of Phoenix in 2006 where she earned her Masters of Business Administration in 2009. In 2012, she went on to work for Ameritas Hispanic Pathways, a Dual Language English Immersion (DLEI) degree pathway that aimed to significantly increase the success of Hispanic adults seeking higher education where she served as the Director of Academics and Students Success. Jeannie enjoys working with students and offering them guidance and encouragement through their educational endeavors. During her free time, she enjoys yoga, traveling and spending time with her family.

Dodie is a native of Bakersfield and proud alumni of CSU Bakersfield! She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2005 and her Master of Science in Educational Counseling in 2012. She has been an Advisor at CSUB for 8 years, 6 years as an NSME Advisor. She also serves as the Coordinator for the LSAMP (Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation). She is married with 4 children and 2 grandchildren, for now. She is a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouts of the USA having spent over 20 years as a volunteer. She enjoys gardening and camping with her family and grandkids.

Micah was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. She attended CSUB for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2015, she earned a B.A. in Psychology and graduated with a Masters in Public Administration in 2017. Micah has a passion for students and is devoted to helping them reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. Having a background in peer mentoring as well as being mentored throughout her entire life, Micah understands the benefits of getting students connected to their university and wants them to believe that they belong and that they matter. In addition to helping students, Micah enjoys spending time with her family, loves the outdoors, and has a passion for all genres of music.

Yolanda was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. She is a first-generation college graduate. She has graduated from Bakersfield College and CSU, Bakersfield. She has earned an A.A. and B.A. in Psychology (minor in Criminal Justice) and a M.S. in Education Counseling with an emphasis in Student Affairs. She was selected the most Outstanding Graduate Student during her program. She has been employed at CSUB for almost a decade, and enjoys being a student advocate through advising. She is a Zumba addict, loves to dance, enjoys watching movies, dog-person, big Disney fan, and loves traveling and spending time with her family.

Jenny Grayson, Pathways Outreach Coordinator
Jenny graduated from Barnard College with an undergraduate degree in biology. She began her career in marine science, education and outreach working with seals, salmon and students in Alaska. After returning to her home state of Oregon, Jenny developed her skill set in business, communications and marketing, producing ad campaigns for some of the world’s most iconic companies. Realizing her preference for animals over ads, Jenny hung her producer hat to return to more scientific pursuits. She has since put her swiss army knife of skills to good use with organizations such as the National Park Service, U.S. Antarctic Program and now NSME’s Pathways program. Having been a STEM transfer student herself, Jenny is a great resource for prospective STEM transfer students interested in finishing their degrees at CSUB. In her free time, Jenny enjoys photography, gold prospecting and traveling to remote places. She can be bribed with dark chocolate and/or gummy bears.

Michelle was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. She attended CSUB for her undergraduate studies and earned her B.A. in Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations and minor in Marketing, in 2011. As an undergrad, she was involved in ASi and PRSSA. She enjoyed her experience at CSUB and decided it was where she wanted to pursue her Master’s. She is currently in the Educational Counseling program and enjoys every aspect of it. At NSME, she works on outreach events and helps with administrative tasks. You can also find her snapping pictures for the NSME website and social media pages. She enjoys spending time with her son, exploring new places, being around friends and family, and reading.

Ms. Becina immigrated from the Philippines in 2004. Raised in hometown Bakersfield, she is a proud alumni of the Liberty High School Choir and an active parishioner at St. Philip the Apostle Church. Her involvement in campus life includes: CSUB University Singers, NSME STEM Pathways, and the Helen Louise Hawk Honors Program. Ms. Becina is currently a sophomore pursuing a medical career at CSUB, majoring in Biochemistry (Pre-Med) and minoring in Music. In her freetime, Ms. Becina volunteers as a lead altar server in her church and studies to become an operatic singer.

Fernando is a Post-Bach student with a degree in Philosophy and is working on his degree in Computer Science. Although the two subjects might not seem to overlap, he assures they are quite connected! Hana is a Yemeni American student who is currently a junior majoring in English and Sociology. She is also the Publicist for CSUB’s Muslim Student Association which advocates for open dialogue and unity. As for the future, she hopes to be involved in the publishing industry to help other writers share their stories. Similarly, she enjoys learning about different societies and how they shape an individual’s perspective. Hana is a proud Hufflepuff and her patronus is a fox.

Chris Ramirez, Student Assistant
Chris is a Post-Bach student with a degree in Kinesiology. He is currently working on a degree in Biology with a Minor in Psychology. He is also part of a research team in the Psychology department, working to understand the addiction centers/pathways of the brain. His intention is to apply to Medical School in the next application cycle. His goal would be to pursue a dual degree, MD/Ph.d, in Neurosurgery. Ideally, he wants to be a part of the ever growing number of breakthroughs in the field of neuroscience, while still being able to connect with patients who are at their most vulnerable state. He is a Bakersfield native, but would jump at the opportunity to move to a different city or state, maybe even country. His hobbies include; cooking delicious food, going to the gym, reading/researching anything and everything, going to the movies, and spending time with bae.
