Nursing students offer immunity

Justices hold forum

Last Thursday, Oct. 29, the Political Science Department held an open forum in the Student Union’s Multi-Purpose Room with the Justices from California’s Fifth District Court of Appeal. Eight of the nine justices arrived at California State University, Bakersfield protected by their security guards to discuss judicial activism, judicial independence and their own judicial philosophies. The justices also told personal stories from their days of attending law school and their trials and tribulations they have gone through to get where they are today. CSUB students, faculty, staff and community members were invited to this exceptional forum to listen, as well as ask questions to the justices who hear approximately 22,000 appeals a year.

CSUB Math Club strives to help all



Lydia Reyes/The Runner  Math Club hosts a ping pong tournament  along with other activities in the Student Lounge.

On Oct. 31 the Student Lounge on campus was full of laughter and a sense of community during a table-tennis tournament sponsored by the CSUB Math Club.

ASi works to benefit students

ASi Executive members are working hard to make sure students are being taken care of on campus. This article is a continuation from the issue two weeks ago that discussed funding topics and ideas that ASi have to make CSUB’s student life more enjoyable.

Students exhibit pep at soccer rally

Students sign their support for CSUB’s soccer teams.

On Wednesday, Oct. 28, students gathered in front of the Student Union to support CSUB’s soccer teams. Students signed banners to cheer on both the women’s and men’s teams. A raffle was held and soccer T-shirts and a duffel bag were given away. Free drinks were provided and the Student Recreation Center gave out free promo towels.
