It was a time of celebration and new beginnings at the grand opening of the Business Development Center at CSUB last Thursday.

CSUB President Tomás Arciniega opened the ceremony by giving thanks to everyone who took part in the effort of developing the business center. Arciniega emphasized the importance of the new center.

“The key focus is the excess of quality as we get into the technological era and I believe we have accomplished that,” he said.

Highlighting the event were the double standing ovations for Rayburn S. Dezember and the unveiling of the Rayburn S. Dezember Leadership Development Center.

A recent e-mail from CSUB Vice President Michael Chertok said, “It’s named for Ray Dezember, a prominent businessman, humanitarian and civic leader in our community.”

The new center has three seminar rooms, a conference room, “smart classrooms” and furnished study rooms.

“We are excited about the possibility this facility gives us in better serving our community,” said Chertok.

CSU Student Trustee Erene Thomas was content with how the buildings turned out and looked.

“I’m a Business major and I am very proud and looking forward to see how this, along with the other CSU campuses, grows,” said Thomas.

Arcineiga acknowledged the center has been behind schedule, but he reiterated the center was almost complete and almost ready for the students.
