‘Runner tennis endures tough weekend




The CSUB women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to UC San Diego at Seven Oaks Country Club Saturday.

Katalin Nagy was the lone winner for CSUB (No. 1 singles). She defeated Jasmin Dao, 6-3, 6-4.

The Tritons swept doubles play led by Lindsey Tadloch and Julie Westerman, who handed Nagy and partner

Natalie Petersen an 8-2 loss. Tadloch also faced Petersen in the No. 3 singles match and won, 6-0, 6-4.

The Cal State Bakersfield (0-3) women’s tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Cal State L.A. Feb. 19 in Los Angeles.

CSUB got off to a 2-1 start after doubles thanks to wins by Natalie Petersen/Brenda Knick and by Michelle Spitzer/Yuri Sawai.

But only Petersen and Sawai could pull off singles wins as the Golden Eagles came back for the win.

Petersen improved to 2-0 in dual match play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jessica Scruggs. Sawai picked up her first win of the season by defeating Charys Scottem 6-0, 6-0.

The ‘Runners will host Grand Canyon on Saturday at 10 a.m.
