Dr. Yiannis Ampatzidis is an agricultural engineer with research interests in the area of mechanization and automation of specialty crop production, focusing on the design, development, and testing of sensors and control systems for optimal management of inputs, resources and products. His current research focus is on mechatronics, precision agriculture and machine systems with special interest in development, implementation and evaluation of agricultural machines and control systems for high value crops.

Luis Edgar Cabrales Arriaga received a BS in Chemical Engineering at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas in Altamira, Mexico. He gained experience working as an engineer at M&G Polymers, one of the largest polyester producers in the world. Afterwards, he went on to earn an MS in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University (TTU) working on research projects related to polymer science. Then, he joined the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRI) at TTU as a research associate. While working at the Institute, he earned a Ph.D. with specialization in Fibers and Biopolymers from TTU in 2011. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Engineering at California State University-Bakersfield. His research interests are in the areas of functionalization of polymeric surfaces to impart antibacterial, hydrophobic, UV protection, photocatalytic, and oleophobic properties to textile materials. He is also interested in the study of cellulose materials and the synthesis of polyesters from renewable resources, their characterization and their processing. At CSUB, he continues to work on research related to materials and polymer science and engineering while initiating the engineering sciences program.

With an agriculture oriented mind, Ashraf El Kereamy graduated from Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt with honor in horticulture. After graduation, he became fascinated by grapevines and finished his master degree on table grape fruit ripening and bud dormancy. At the same time he was working on grape and fruit trees consultation for years in Egypt. Ashraf enriched his grape experience by earning his Ph.D. degree on grape ripening from one of the leading laboratories in fruit ripening and plant hormones (INP-ENSAT), located in Toulouse, France. Following his Ph.D., he worked at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada on plant tolerance to different stress conditions such as fungal infection, nitrogen limitation, drought, and heat stress. He has authored many peer reviewed publications in plant hormones and stress tolerance. Ashraf is one of the well known authors who worked on the involvement of the plant hormone ethylene in grape coloration and ripening. With his extensive field and laboratory experience, Ashraf is honored to be here working at University of California Extension, Kern county and serve grape growers in central valley.

Dr. Salvador Mayoral received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 2013. As a graduate student, Dr. Mayoral worked on the shielding of jet noise by a hybrid wing body aircraft. His current research interests are aeroacoustics, experimental fluid mechanics, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Dr. Mayoral is a currently working on developing a relative positioning system for unmanned aerial vehicles using propeller noise and modeling the aeroacoustic diffraction from the momentum wake of an aerial vehicle. Dr. Mayoral aims to develop an aerospace specialization within the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is currently restoring the Wind Tunnel Laboratory. Before joining the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cal State Fullerton in the Fall of 2014, Dr. Mayoral worked as a Research and Development Engineer at Sonendo Inc. developing and testing medical devices for endodontics.

Dr. Paleologou is a philosophy faculty in the department of Philosophy & Religious Studies at California State University Bakersfield. She has been trained and has received certification by the Council of Student Academic Success Advisors Certification Course and the LGBT Safe Zone Workshop. She has served as a faculty Mentor Fellow for Philosophy and Religious Studies majors under Title V, and currently serves as one of the mentors for the CSUB Guardian Scholars Program and Safe Zone Ally. She is also a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee for International Students and one the faculty advisors for philosophy majors. As the mentor supervisor, Dr. Paleologou (external consultant) will be responsible for helping the mentors continue developing cross-cultural competencies and gaining a deeper understanding of the students’ need.

Dr. Balaji Sethuramasamyraja (Dr. Seth) joined Industrial Technology team in 2006 serving Industrial Technology department and Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences & Technology academic programs through teaching, research and outreach activities in geospatial technology including - development of sensors, instrumentation and control systems, application of Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & remote sensing, information systems, and robotics.

Dr. Seth earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Madras, India and served the industry as a Reliability Engineer, Engineering Research and Development Center at Caterpillar Inc., on mechanical design and development. He furthered his research through MS in Industrial Engineering from University of Cincinnati, Ohio and PhD in Biological Systems and Agricultural Engineering from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Nebraska.

He is actively involved with Association of Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineers, California Geographic Information Systems, Association for Technology, Management and Applied Engineering professional societies. He takes immense pride in student advising, research and student success.

Dr. Seth is the Coordinator for the new Precision Agriculture Technology minor.
