SANTA CLARITA PROGRAMS

Special Education Credential
(Beginning Summer 2005)

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Level I Credential in Mild/Moderate Disabilities

This 2-year part-time program consists of 47 quarter-units of study and will be held at the Interim University Center at the College of the Canyons campus in Santa Clarita Valley.  The Special Education (SPED) program at CSUB provides exemplary credential and master’s degree programs in Mild/Moderate disabilities and is accredited by NCATE and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

Program Design

Admissions Prerequisites

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree
  • Overall GPA of 2.67 or higher
  • Passage of the CBEST examination
  • Passage of the CSET examination
  • Complete of the Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR) or equivalent
  • Attendance of the SPED Orientation
  • Program Prerequisites

  • EDEL 240 - Early Field Experience
  • EDSP 501 - Intro. to Education of Exceptional Children and Youth
  • EDSP 502 - Field Experience I: Observation/Participation
