Admission Requirements:

--Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University
--Minimum GPA of 3.00 in all undergraduate course work
   Note:  If a student has less than the required GPA, conditional program admission can be considered with submission of two letters of recommendation (at least one academic) and other relevant material outlining professional qualifications and experience.  Students admitted conditionally must successfully complete a contract of specified courses with a grade of “B” (3.0) or better in all courses to be fully classified into the program.
--Completion of the GWAR (Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement)
 

 

Acceptance into the MPA program is based on the student’s potential for academic and professional success.  Students admitted to the program with a Conditionally Classified standing, advance to Classified standing as various benchmarks are attained.

Introductory Core (20 units):

PPA 500  Survey of Public Administration (5)
PPA 501  Analytical Methods in Administration (5)
               note: students should have familiarity with interval level statistics.

PPA 503  The Public Policy-Making Process (5)

Central Core (25 units):

PPA 610  Public Human Resources Administration and Labor Relations (5)
PPA 611  Finance and Budgeting (5)
PPA 671  Graduate Seminar of Public Policy and Administration (5)
PPA 680  Public Management and Organizational Change (5)
PPA 691  Policy Analysis (5)

Culminating Experience (5  units):

PPA 698  Masters Paper (5)

Elective Courses (15 units):

Graduation Requirements:

--Completion of all course requirements
--Maintenance of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in all coursework in the Plan of Study of the MPA program
--Completion of PPA 698 Masters Paper with a grade of B or better.
