Bachelor of Arts in Communications

A Communications degree provides undergraduates with a distinct working knowledge of Communication theories and hands-on training in selected studies in  Public Relations and Journalism

The Bachelor of Arts in Communications presents a combination of theoretical knowledge and analytical skill oriented to the recognition and solution of communication problems as they occur in their various forms and within diverse contexts and media; students have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in related activity and production courses as well as internships; they may concentrate their study in either Public Relations or Journalism. The general emphasis is upon breadth and flexibility in preparation for a diversity of career opportunities. Students are expected to have completed the equivalent of 2 years of college coursework (including lower division General Education requirements and computer competency) prior to applying for admission.

Students complete the equivalent of 2 years of coursework at a community college prior to applying for admission. Transfer courses will include all lower division general education requirements, and students are advised to have all general education coursework certified. It is recommended that all lower division general education requirements be completed prior to admission to ensure timely completion of the program.
