English - Credential Emphasis

The English Major with Credential Emphasis (EMCE) degree program provides an educational experience suited for prospective middle and high school teachers. Students take courses in several areas of Language and Literature and complete fieldwork courses in preparation for entry into a Single Subject Credential Program.
Students complete the equivalent of 2 years of lower division coursework at a community college prior to applying for admission to CSUB. Transfer courses will include all lower division general education requirements. Sixty transferable semester or ninety quarter units are required for admission to CSUB
The English Department provides a diversified major and satisfies all of the following requirements: Single Subject Competency, General Education, American Institutions, Upper Division Writing Competency (GWAR) and Gender/Race/Ethnicity Studies.
