The Preschool Literacy Project has had several occasions to celebrate and make others aware of the project. The press conference (pictures below) to announce the grant and a celebration (launching PLP event) of the launching of the project were held. In addition, several presentations have been made to various community organizations such as Rotary and Kiwanis clubs and at professional meetings such as the California Reading Association.

Moody Presentation

11.15.2005

The Preschool Literacy Project was the impetus for a special treat. Dr. Dale Moody, a CSUB professor retiring in 2005, presented a program to the 22 Bakersfield City Pre-Kindergarten classrooms in the project. His final hour of teaching was covered by three local television stations as well as the newspaper.

Dr. Moody’s presentation was well-received by over 500
Pre-K children who loved learning how to "speak Australian"
and handling various stuffed and blow-up animals that live in Australia
and New Zealand
