12th Annual Philosophy and Religious Studies Undergraduate Conference

 KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Manuel Vargas (University of San Francisco).

The 12th annual CSUB Philosophy & Religious Studies Undergraduate Conference will be held Saturday, April 30th, 2016, on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield.  The conference provides a forum for the presentation of work by undergraduates in all areas of philosophy and religious studies.  Papers should be approximately 3,000 words (10-12 pages) and submitted electronically to:  sgamboa@csub.edu.

Submission deadline is March 28, 2016.   Final decisions will be made by April 8th.

    Paper sessions                                         1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

    Keynote address                                       5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

This year's keynote speaker is Manuel Vargas, Professor of Philosophy and Law at the University of San Francisco.  Dr. Vargas's principal research interests include moral agency, philosophical issues in the law, and Latin American philosophy.  He is the author of Building Better Beings:  A  Theory of Moral Responsibility (Oxford, 2013).
