July 17, 2013 - The California State University, Bakersfield Children's Art Institute announces the Fall 2013 Art Camp "Crafts Around the World." The camp will take place over four separate Saturdays in the fall; October 19, 25, and November 2, 9, from 9am to 11am, for children grades 1-6.
The "Crafts Around the World" classes will teach children about the history of crafts, the craft culture, and cultural games. Each week, children will study a different culture and create a craft from the region, which will include Arab, Mexican, Russian and German cultures.
"Studying these types of visual arts promotes skills seen as important in academic and life success," said Dr. Dianne Turner, Director of the CSUB Children's Art Institute. "In addition, children who take the class will experience these life skills: creativity, problem-solving, constructive criticism and dedication."
Tuition for the Fall Art Camp is $70 and includes materials, instruction and an art apron. Discounts are available for children who have attended our previous art camps, CSUB alumni and CSUB faculty and staff if registered by October 1.
Dr. Turner will supervise the program, which will consist of two class groups for grades 1-3 and 4-6.
