April 22, 2013 - California State University, Bakersfield is the place to be on Saturday, April 27th for the university's annual open house event, Celebrate CSUB! The free event is open to the public. For the seventh year, faculty, staff, and students open their doors and invite the community, incoming students, and their families to a day of demonstrations, exhibits, and discovery. The festivities begin at 9am and continue through 1:00 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
Celebrate CSUB! is jam packed with activities for the whole family, from the 5K Fun Run/Walk, a Spring Carnival and food booths by student leadership, performances by our spirit squad, information booths, music, food, face painting, and much more!
"It's a free, family-friendly, fun event with activities galore -- a great way to learn about the university," said Evelyn Young, Coordinator of Celebrate CSUB! "From hands-on science, solar oven-baked cookies, to brain games and athletic contests, it's our way of celebrating so many of the great things that make CSUB a vibrant place to learn and such an important asset to our region."
Activities begin bright and early with the 5K Fun Run/Walk kicking things off outside the Student Recreation Center at 8:00am (entry fee $22 on race day). Families are especially encouraged to attend, as there will be art projects and games for children and a variety of activities for prospective students and their parents beginning at 9am. There will be classroom and lab tours, an academic market place, interaction with clubs and organizations and freshman orientation day for incoming CSUB students.
