Meet Our Staff
Irma Cervantes - PAC Coordinator
As Public Affairs Coordinator, Irma Cervantes works in the Public Affairs and Communications department, to promote the mission of CSU Bakersfield through the placement of news and information about the university.
Cervantes began her role at CSUB in February 2013 and has 15 years of professional communications experience. She has already brought international notoriety to the university by her recent recognition of two Gold MarCom Awards, one Gold AVA Digital Award, one Gold Hermes Award, and one Videographer Award of Distinction from the international Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. In her more recent role, Cervantes was well known in the community as a news reporter for Univision KABE 39, where she reported on stories from breaking news to human interest. She is an award-winning journalist, recognized with a Radio Television News Association Golden Mike Award, two Northern California Regional Emmy Awards, and two prestigious Radio and Television Digital News Association Edward R. Murrow Awards. She was also a recipient of a Kern Press Club award in 2012.
Additionally, Cervantes is a member of the Radio and Television Digital News Association, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Kern Press Club, National Association of Professional Women, the Public Relations Society of America, the American Association of Public Administration, and Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. She also serves on the board of directors of the CSUB Alumni Association, Links for Life, Bakersfield Women's Business Conference and the Latina Leaders of Kern County. In her spare time, she can be seen volunteering for many community organizations such as The League of Dreams and the Bakersfield AIDS Project. She very much enjoys public speaking at Kern County schools, where she often shares the importance of education to future generations.
Cervantes received both her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and her Master of Public Administration from CSUB. She currently resides in Bakersfield with her husband, Adam Lancaster.
