Requirements for First-Time Freshmen
A high school graduate or a transfer student who lacks 60 transferable semester
( 90 quarter units ) units should:

1. Complete a prescribed package of 15 college preparatory courses; your high school counselor can advise you about what courses CSUB requires.

2. Submit two copies of transcripts to the Office of Admissions.

3. Take the ACT or the SAT examination and submit the results directly to the CSUB Admissions Office.

Requirements for transfer students
An applicant wishing to transfer from an accredited college may be admitted to the university in one of two ways:

Students who have completed 60 or fewer transferable semester college units ( 90 quarter units ) are considered lower division students. Students who have completed 60 or more transferable semester college units ( 90 quarter units ) are considered upper division transfer students.

Upper Division Transfer Requirements
You will qualify for admission as an upper division transfer student if you meet all of the following:

1. You have a grade point average of 2.0 (C or better) in all eligible transferable units attempted; and you
are in good standing at the last college or university attended, and

2. You have completed the general education requirements with 4 courses ("The Golden Four")

 - English
 - Speech
 - Critical Thinking
 - Mathematics or quantitative reasoning.

All applicants must furnish two copies of transcripts from all schools and colleges attended to Admissions and Records. Requests for official transcripts should be made directly to the institution from which transcripts are required. Transcripts presented by a student cannot be accepted as official.

If you're thinking about coming to CSUB, give the staff at the University Outreach Office a call. They can answer many questions, assist you in completing your application, and provide guided tours of the campus for prospective students and their parents.
