“Create a knotted Bead Necklace”  By Lisa Martinez          Sept. 14, 6 - 8 pm

-Learn a simple technique of knotting beads onto silk cording to create a beautiful, light beaded necklace to add to any outfit. You will be able to choose your own color kit to fit your own personal style with step-by-step assistance from beginning to end.  Course location: BDC 401 C

“One Nation, Many Faith” By Dr. Aaron Steenbergen           Oct. 5, 12, 19 - 1 -3pm

- Participants may more deeply ponder what it means to assert that America is “One Nation, Many Faiths.” Materials invite discussion. Time allowing we will watch clips from: A Dream in Doubt, Jesus Camp, Inside Islam, Hinduism, and One Nation, Many Faiths.  Course location: BDC 401 C

“Revisiting One Book One Bakersfield One Kern”                        By Jennifer Patino  - Nov. 4,  4 - 6pm

- The pick for this year’s read is “The Other Wes Moore” – One Name Two Fates.  Two kids with the same name living in the same decaying city.  One grew up to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated combat veteran, White House Fellow, and business leader. The other is serving a life sentence in prison for felony murder.  Here is the story of two boys and the journey of a generation.  We will discuss the book, as well as, what our impact is on today’s youth.  The book may be purchased at Russo’s Books.   Course location: BDC 401 C
