The OLLI at CSU Bakersfield’s Extended University is a membership organization for all Kern County residents aged 50 and better who want to participate in a community of fellow learners. Exams and grades are not part of the program; the only requirement is the desire to learn for the joy of learning.
Extended University’s OLLI program is part of a network of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes funded in part by the Bernard Osher Foundation. As an OLLI member, you will play a key role in shaping, managing, and leading the organization. In addition, you will have the opportunity to take classes, teach classes, plan and coordinate activities, organize volunteer projects, and volunteer for any other tasks you might find rewarding.
Our OLLI program will continue to offer opportunities for fun and social events, in addition to bringing stimulating topics for lectures, short courses, campus events, and the possibility of short field trips to our members. Each quarter, fun and thought provoking courses and lectures will be taught by experts in their field, including local historians, teachers, and community members.
Remember, new ideas for courses and lectures are appreciated and encouraged. If you or someone you know is interested in offering courses through OLLI, contact us with your ideas. We at Extended University are here to offer our OLLI members an invigorating and fulfilling experience!
