Prospective RN to BSN Program Applicants

Due to the overwhelming number of applications received, the Department of Nursing will no longer be accepting RN to BSN Completion Program applications on a first come, first served basis. Applicants will be screened based on a new ranking system. Applications will be evaluated, and ordered, based on several criteria (the criteria points calculator has been included above so that you may see where you rank). This new system has been implemented beginning 2012 due to the new impaction status of the RN to BSN Completion Program. All new applicants will need to submit an application between February 1, 2012 and March 30, 2012. Interviews will be mandatory.

Dear Prospective Student:

A BSN offers you a wider variety of job possibilities. Upon completion of the program, you will earn a Public Health Nurse (PHN) certificate that permits you to work in either public health or school nursing. A basic knowledge of nursing theory and research methods as well as community health nursing set the BSN graduate apart from the ADN graduate. You will also gain a deeper understanding of pathophysiology which will be invaluable in your clinical setting.

As a RN to BSN graduate, I was ready for the challenge. I felt I had a great nursing education foundation (BC Nursing Graduate Class of 1992) to build on.

We have worked closely with our faculty, nursing leaders, ADN programs, and community members to craft a solid and updated curriculum for the RN to BSN student. We have received positive feedback from the community and our students. Our program has recently changed as of Winter 2009 to an online format. We currently offer all Nursing lecture courses online. This program is not intended for students residing outside of the Bakersfield, Visalia, or Lancaster areas, as we still require 100 hours of clinical.

Applications for the Summer 2012 starting cohort will be accepted February 3rd, 2012 through March 30th, 2012. Applications will be screened based on a new ranking system. Please see the application and the Key Facts information page for more information.

You may access the program information above using the drop-down menus at the top of this page. Please contact Brynn Schock, the RN to BSN Completion Program Advisor, at (661) 654-2610 or by email at bschock@csub.edu for transfer information and distance advising.

I look forward to your great success in our program.

Warm Regards,
