General Information

The RN to BSN Program program at California State University, Bakersfield allows current RNs the opportunity complete the baccalaureate degree in fifteen months (fall through fall), or 4 semesters. This program has been utilizing the Blackboard system since 2009 to provide higher education access online to both local and Bakersfield surrounding area students (Antelope Valley and Tulare/Kings County). This program is a great option for students who would like to obtain a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing after completing the Associate Degree in Nursing in the Kern County region. One hundred thirty Community and Public Health clinical hours are required to graduate with the BSN.

The program requires that all students complete clinical hours during the spring semester (January through May). All students must be present at the Kern County Department of Public Health or assigned clinical site to complete these hours (day/times TBD by the Department of Nursing after admission). Students are also required to complete all general education and graduation requirements for the degree by the last quarter of the program.

The RN to BSN Program is impacted, therefore applicants will be ranked based on selection criteria points. The top fifty students will be selected for the program.
