Accreditation Information

Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Approval

The CSUB Department of Nursing maintains approval by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).  This approval was most recently confirmed by on-site visits in Fall 2011 (Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Pre-Licensure Traditional Program) and Fall 2014 (Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN/FNP) Program).  The next continuing approval visit for both programs will occur in Spring 2017.

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation

The BSN program at CSUB is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington DC 20036, (202) 887-6791.  The Department of Nursing hosted a successful reaccreditation visit in Spring 2012 for the BSN program.  A routine interim report will be due in Fall 2017, and the next on-site evaluation is planned for Spring 2022.

The MSN program's CCNE accreditation was voluntarily withdrawn in 2010 as a result of the program's temporary closure.  When the MSN program was reopened in Fall 2014, the Department of Nursing initiated the accreditation process immediately, following the procedures required by the CCNE.  An on-site evaluation was conducted on January 27-29, 2016 after which the CCNE rendered the program successfully accredited.
