PROGRAMS
The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at CSUB participates in a
number of programs designed to assist our students at excelling in math and

The Louis Stokes
Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) Program is a project
sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the California State
University. Its goal is to increase the number of baccalaureates in
Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (SMET) among underrepresented
minority groups. It consists of two main components: Summer Bridge and

Project SMART
Grad is a math and science scholarship program funded by the
Office of Naval Research and sponsored by CSUB. PSG was funded in 1999
with a $1.3 million grant and has since recruited 30 students to CSUB.

The Facility for
Animal Care and Treatment, FACT, located on the CSU Bakersfield
campus, is a wildlife rehabilitation/conservation education program.
Our rehabilitation program focuses on the care of injured and orphaned birds
of prey such as owls, hawks, and falcons. The conservation education
programs are available free to the public and include school field trips,
off-site shows and monthly Open Houses.
