CSUB students who complete foundation courses for the engineering major are given special consideration when they apply for admission to engineering programs at other CSU campuses.  This can be an important advantage at those campuses that receive many more applicants than they can admit, such as Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

For Kern County high school students, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo offers the most appealing engineering program.  CSUB has reached an agreement with Cal Poly whereby CSUB students who complete the specified transfer program are given "special consideration" for admission.  While there is no formal guarantee, completion of one of the prescribed course plans provides the student with a very strong assurance of admission.  Students who want to transfer to Cal Poly need to work very closely with the engineering advisor.

In addition to the agreement with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CSUB has formal articulation agreements with CSU Fresno, CSU Los Angeles, and CSU Northridge.

Special Considerations

  • Your general education requirements can be satisfied before or after transferring, a course taken at CSUB usually, but not always, satisfies the requirements.

  • Philosophy 102 (Logic) is no longer a requirement for transferring students.

  • ENG 101 is a requirement for students transferring to a UC school.

  • MATH 302 and CMPS 213 are not required but are STRONGLY recommended for transfer students.

  • ENG 160 and ENG 161 are recommended for all freshman engineering students.
