Robert Noyce Scholarship Program

The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded (DUE-0934944) program that provides scholarships to students who are committed to teaching science or mathematics in high need school districts upon the completion of a single subject credential program. The main goal of the program is to increase the number of teachers with strong science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) content knowledge in high need school districts. The CSUB Noyce Scholarship Program will offer scholarship support for up to $10,000 per year for up to two academic years.

Pre-Service Teacher Institute

August 11-15, 2014

NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center

Palmdale, California

In partnership with AERO Institute and CSU Bakersfield


Participants will:

  • Visit the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center and
  • Participate in presentations by, and activities with NASA education specialists in curriculum and instruction
  • Develop problem-based learning (PBL) science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) thematic lessons utilizing NASA educational resources.

This Institute is intended for:

  • Pre Service Teachers:  Students preparing to become Elementary, Middle, or High School teachers.  You may:
    • be within two (2) years of completing a teaching credential, and/or
    • be participating in, or have recently completed, a credential program.
    • You must be at least 18 years of age.  NASA facilities require proof of citizenship.

Institute Expenses Covered by Grant:

  • Institute registration and materials
  • One unit of Professional Development university credit
  • Five days of Lodging and Meals (reimbursement)
  • Travel (qualifying mileage reimbursement)
