CSU Bakersfield to Host International Education Week

California State University, Bakersfield will celebrate its commitment to a diverse campus culture with a variety of activities during the third annual International Education Week from Nov. 13-16.

“This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. We have a wonderfully diverse campus and to celebrate and share knowledge, food and culture is really exciting for all of us,” said CSUB Director of Campus Programming.

The week was created to engage the international students, faculty and staff as well as the general campus population in providing an educational opportunity to learn about and celebrate different cultures.

The week’s activities include:

  • A Kick-Off and Resource Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the Café Quad, followed by a Study Abroad Panel at 12:30 p.m.
  • An International Food and Culture Show on Wednesday, Nov. 15.  The event will give attendees a chance to sample different cuisines and learn about other cultures. Food will be cooked and served by the international students, faculty and staff from 8 to 10 p.m.  in the Runner Café and Stockdale Room.

Throughout the week, there will also be a Diversity in Islam Program, a Brown Bag Discussion on “Finding Your International Identity,” La Gran Posada Celebration and the week ends with a FIFA tournament and soccer game on Friday night. There’s something for everyone to become educated and immersed in other cultures.
