Japan and Beyond Club to Host Japanese Night Festival at CSUB

The California State University, Bakersfield Japan and Beyond Club is hosting their fourth annual Matsuri, the Japanese Night Festival on April 21 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) Gym. Admission is free. There will be food, fun and entertainment, fitting with the theme.

The Festival will give attendees a chance to experience Japan, with activities including: calligraphy; fortune telling; origami; mask-making; and many other interactive activities. There will also be entertainment with the Taiko Center LA drummers performing to the Taiko drums; Kaibigan, the CSUB Filipino Club will perform dances; the Judo Club on campus will demonstrate martial arts; and there will be a cosplay contest – participants must sign up before 7 p.m. A silent auction also will take place.

Food will be free while supplies last, consisting of Panda Express, yakishoba form Ichiban Sushi and dumplings from Teriyaki Bowl.

This will be a wonderful time for CSUB students, faculty and staff, who are encouraged to attend and bring friends and family; it is open to the community. Admission is free. For more information, please contact: japanandbeyondCSUB@gmail.com.
