CSUB To Host Screening of Award-Winning Documentary with Discussion Featuring Local Combat Veteran

California State University, Bakersfield will host a screening of the award-winning documentary, “Restrepo,” at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the Stockdale Room, with a discussion to follow.

Following the screening, Chad Garcia, a local combat veteran who fought in Afghanistan, will lead a discussion.

“Restrepo” is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley.  The movie focuses on a remote 15-man outpost, “Restrepo,” named after a platoon medic who was killed in action. It was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

The event is free and open to the public.  Parking is free in Lot M.
