Walter Presents Author Peter Panagore

The Walter Stiern Library at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) continues their Walter Presents series with author, Peter Baldwin Panagore on Tuesday, October 11 at 1 p.m. in the Dezember Reading Room. This event is free and open to the public.

In the winter of 1980, college senior, Peter Baldwin went ice climbing on the world-famous Lower Weeping Wall, along the Ice Fields Parkway in Alberta, Canada. On their descent, Peter and his climbing partner became trapped on the side of the mountain. Peter was overcome by hypothermia and died on the side of the mountain in March 1980. In the minutes he was clinically dead, he experienced what he perceived to be an afterlife. His near death experience (NDE) changed his life and resulted in an intense spiritual journey described in his book, “Heaven is Beautiful: How Dying Taught Me That Death is Just the Beginning.” Panagore will discuss these very ideas during his talk.

“Peter Panagore explores one of the abiding mysteries of existence and we look forward to hosting him,” said Walter Stiern Library Dean, Curt Asher.

Aside from his book, Pangore is the host of a daily two-minute inspirational TV and radio broadcast on two Tegna/NBC stations throughout Maine. The retired pastor, who has also written for The Huffington Post, lives in coastal Maine with his wife.
