CSUB English grad students receive special recognition from Kern County Board of Supervisors

California State University, Bakersfield's English graduate students each received individual certificates of recognition from the Kern County Board of Supervisors at Tuesday's board meeting.

Sixteen CSUB English grad students worked with the Kern County Board of Trade and wrote the content for the 2015 Kern County Visitors Guide: http://www.visitkern.com/visitors-guide/.

“This project is a great example of the entrepreneurial spirit of our students and of how CSUB connects the arts and humanities to the everyday life of our community,” said Dr. Richard Collins, Dean of Arts and Humanities. “The finished product shows not only our students' dedication to the community but also the relevance of their education in research and writing. Without their descriptive and narrative skills, some of the stories of what Kern County has to offer visitors might well have gone untold.”

In addition to the online publication and the thousands of copies distributed throughout Kern County, the Kern County Visitors Guide is distributed through all of the California Welcome Centers around the state.
