Local Poets Read at Walter Presents

Seven local poets will read from their work at a Walter Presents event at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21st in the Dezember Room of the Walter W. Stiern Library at California State University, Bakersfield.  It is the library's second annual poetry gathering.

“For the second year in a row, we have a big cast of locals here to read from their work,” said Interim Library Dean Curt Asher. “It's an event the library looks forward to all year.”

The poets offer a range of styles. English professor Dr. Marit MacArthur, who is helping organize the event, will read from her work.  Also reading are Bakersfield College professor emeritus Nancy Edwards, local poets Portia Choi and Don Thompson, Bakersfield College's Levan Center director Jack Hernandez, Taft College professor Geoff Dyer and CSUB English professor Matt Woodman.

Some light refreshments will be served. Participants and guests can use parking code #4589261 at the Stockdale or Camino Media campus entrances. For more information about the event, please contact Eileen Montoya at 654-3042 or Marit MacArthur at 654-6503.
