IKEA donates “comfort kits” to CSUB students

IKEA Distribution Services North America in Lebec will be donating “Student Housing Comfort Kits” to 100 CSU Bakersfield students in need of assistance.

IKEA volunteers will pass out $28,000 worth of comforters, pillows, lamps, rugs and other items from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at CSUB’s new student housing facilities.  IKEA's goal is to help enhance the educational experience for students living in student housing.

The new three-building housing complex, located on the northeast side of campus, consists of two four-story, all-suite residential buildings and a single-story Residence Life Community Center, where the Housing Administrative Offices will be located. Other amenities include a game room, laundry facility, mail center, catering kitchen, multi-use room as well as class rooms and group study rooms.

Boasting almost 151,000 square feet, the 113-suite, 500-bed facility includes suite-exclusive restrooms and a multitude of energy-saving design features. The new facility will proudly achieve the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold equivalency.
