Two great Valley writers coming to CSUB library

It would take 11 work weeks just to listen to all of the interviews famed journalist and author Mark Arax has collected over the course of his career.

These are interviews with some of the most important figures in the history of the San Joaquin Valley and, working with UC Merced, Arax is building a digital archive and publishing project that focuses on that history.

Arax is a former Los Angeles Times reporter and the author of several important books on Valley history. He has collaborated on “Beyond Luck: The Improbable Rise of the Berry Fortune Across a Western Century” with Betsy Lumbye, the former executive editor of the Fresno Bee.

Arax will talk about his new ground-breaking venture and Lumbye will talk about her book during a joint forum at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at CSU Bakersfield's Walter Stiern Library.
