CSU Bakersfield Guitar Arts Concert Series Presents: Chris Schlarb

Schlarb The Music Program at California State University, Bakersfield is pleased to launch the fifth season of the Guitar Arts Concert Series (www.csub.edu/music) with a residency by guitarist, composer, and improviser Chris Schlarb where he will work with student composer/performers and present a public recital of solo guitar music. 

On Thursday, October 23, Schlarb will oversee a Master Class with students where they will discuss improvisation, composition, and the intersection of those two important musical elements. The class will begin at 4 PM in room 128 of the Music Building and is FREE and open to the public. CSUB Director of Guitar Studies, Jim Scully adds, ‚Interested audience members/performers are asked to bring their instruments!  This will be an interactive session with a world-class musician.‚

Schlarb's culminating event is an evening recital on Friday, October 24 featuring works from his new solo record "Making the Saint‚ which has been lauded in the New York Times, NPR and Spin Magazine. The recital is in the Music Building, room 127 at CSU Bakersfield on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 7:30 PM.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15/general; $10/senior; $5/students. Seating is limited to 90 - so please arrive early to secure your seat.
