CSU Bakersfield and Lamont School District's camp BLAST!

CSU Bakersfield's Math and Science Teacher Initiative and the Lamont School District will partner to host camp BLAST!, a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) academy.

The 400 Lamont students grades 3-8 are expected to attend and will be able to choose from three themes of education in the Engineering Design Process (EDP): rocketry, “trash 4 teaching,” or video technology. Each theme will include activities where students can learn with hands-on experiences, including rocket building, a solar oven demonstration, and video recording on iPads. Students will keep STEM journals, in which they will complete daily thought experiments connecting the EDP to new learning from their most recent activity or challenge.

When: June 9-27th, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 2pm

Where: 7998 Alicante Avenue Lamont, CA 93241
