The office of University Advancement at CSU Bakersfield is proud to announce that Sarah Hendrick has been appointed as the new Director of Alumni Relations. Hendrick will lead the Alumni Relations team under the direction of David Melendez, Vice President of University Advancement. She began her new role on May 1st.
Hendrick brings 14 years of marketing and event planning experience to this position. In her most recent role, she served as Interim Director of Alumni Relations where she was instrumental in the development and execution of alumni engagement initiatives, such as the Industry and Education Roundtable and the Alumni survey and subsequent focus groups. Prior to that, she served as the CSUB events coordinator, where she managed and coordinated events for up to 5,000 guests for both the on- and off-campus communities.
“We at CSUB are pleased about Sarah taking the role Director of Alumni Relations, particularly as she is an alumna herself. Among the notable attributes she brings to this position, she's demonstrated a commitment to making the university a greater resource to our alumni,” said Melendez.
As the Director of Alumni Relations, Hendrick will be responsible for designing and implementing an alumni program recognizing the interdependence of CSUB and its alumni. She will be charged with developing and initiating innovative engagement programs to reach the goals and objectives of the department and the university, as well as the university's 40,000 strong alumni base and associated support groups. Hendrick will serve as the primary liaison to the CSUB Alumni Association Governing Board and to various alumni constituent groups, including the 60+Club.
“I feel very fortunate to have served CSUB in the Office of Events for the past four years and am very excited to continue my service as the new Director of Alumni Relations,” said Hendrick. “I've seen the positive impact our alumni have on current students and in their communities. Our alumni are doing amazing things locally, nationally and around the globe. There is huge potential for growth to recognize, communicate and engage with more of our alumni, and I look forward to helping build upon that at CSU Bakersfield.”
Hendrick received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from CSUB in 2001. She is also a member of the Junior League of Bakersfield and will serve as co-chair for the Provisional Committee for the 2014-2015 term. Hendrick is a Bakersfield native, and she and her husband Nathan are proud to call it home.
