The festival will be held on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, at the CSUB Amphitheatre where attendees will be surrounded by the cool sounds of Jazz artists and delicious food. Friday night's performances will begin at 7:00PM with gates opening at 6:00PM, and Saturday night's performances beginning at 4:00PM with gates opening at 3:00PM. With over 12 amazing musical performances and a spectacular fireworks show the 28th Annual Jazz Festival is an event the greater Bakersfield community will not want to miss.

This year's Jazz Festival will feature an exciting array of talent with many performances such as the gifted jazz drummer and composer Kyle Burnham, one of Bakersfield's musical staples the eight-piece Jamaican SKA, Latin, and Jazz band Mento Buru, a top name in jazz trombonists Delfeayo Marsalis and his quintet, the CSUB Players, and many more. Along with the vivacious melodies of the artists, the festival will also offer a variety of food, drinks, including beer and wine, as well as artists' pavilion and other vendors. The festival will be topped off on Saturday night with a stunning fireworks show sure to light up the sky. Proceeds from the event go towards CSUB student scholarships.

“This year's lineup is fantastic. We have three-time Grammy winner and Dave Matthew's saxophonist, Jeff Coffin and the Latin jazz legend Poncho Sanchez on Friday night, and seven bands leading to fireworks and the groove master Gerald Albright to close the show,” said Doug Davis, Director and organizer of the Bakersfield Jazz Festival. “For guitarist, how can you miss Scott Henderson, voted #1 Jazz Guitarist by both Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines. Come join us for quite a party.”

The Jazz Festival is a great two-day event for the whole family. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating as well as coolers, stocked with picnic items. However, outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
