CSUB MBA students to present business projects to local distinguished guests
December 04, 2013
The media is invited to cover the Fall 2013 quarter culmination dinner of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) program at CSU Bakersfield on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 6pm at Seven Oaks Country Club.
During the dinner, CSUB MBA students who have completed their program culmination class in Fall 2013, will present the projects they worked on during their course. For ten weeks, students worked in groups to come up with a business idea, create a business plan, design a website, and present their project to the class. Each team was given a million dollars in play money to be used for what the actual cost of the business expenses would be. Groups were also asked to invest some of that play money in other classmates’ business ideas that they believe could become successful.
“This apprentice style of teaching gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating a business that can have the potential to be successful in the real world,” said Dr. Mohsen Attaran, Professor of the School of Business and Public Administration. “One of our former students who created a project for an oil company is now doing that very project in real life. This demonstrates that what they learn in class can truly help them become successful once they graduate.”
The students will present their projects to an audience of invited distinguished community guests that will include area leaders, chief executive officers, and business owners. This is an invitation-only. However, the media is invited and encouraged to attend to help highlight these MBA students’ projects.
