The Kegley Institute of Ethics and United Way of Kern County Present Special Lecture Featuring Rich Harwood
March 04, 2013
The CSU Bakersfield, The Kegley Institute of Ethics and The United Way of Kern County are very proud to present their special lecture “Coming Together: Engaging One Another in Civic Conversation.” The lecture will feature Rich Hardwood, Founder and President of The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation. This will take place on Tuesday, March 12th at 7pm inside the CSUB Dezember Reading Room of the Walter Stiern Library.
Harwood founded the institute at 27 years old, and dedicated himself to making the case for a different kind of public life and politics. For more than 20 years, the institute has helped people develop into public innovators, build boundary spanning organizations, grow common spaces for innovation and learning, and cultivate the conditions, norms and productive narratives that help their communities move forward. Today, their approach is being used by tens of thousands of individuals in communities across the United States and around the globe.
“This is great timing for Kern County,” said Jill England, Vice President of Community Impact at the United Way of Kern County. “Harwood raises the hard questions that communities at some point or another need to confront if they want to thrive, but in a way that invites exploration, dialogue—and ultimately, action. We're by nature a generous community - we’re ready to hear this.”
The lecture is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in lots A, B, C & D after 6pm. For location information, visit www.csub.edu/campusmap/. For more information on the Hardwood Institute, visit www.theharwoodinstitute.org.
