Choral Ensembles
University Singers is our largest choral ensemble, performing masterworks as well as selections from the world music and standard repertory.
Chamber Singers is a selective mixed ensemble of up to 24 advanced singers. This award winning group tours regularly and performs a diverse repertoire covering the last six hundred years of the choral literature.
Women’s Choir is an ensemble focusing on literature for the female voice, including newly composed works and world music.

Jazz Singers is a highly selective group of six to ten vocalists performing jazz in various settings from a cappella ballads to arrangements with big band accompaniment.
Opera Theatre produces a fully staged opera every third year with performances of a wide range of opera scenes in the other years.
Instrumental Ensembles
The Chamber Orchestra presents works from the standard repertoire and provides students with valuable orchestral training.
The Chamber Music Program provides advanced students with an opportunity to dig into the rich chamber music repertory. Faculty coaches meet with ensembles regularly in preparation for the quarterly Chamber Music concerts.

The Community Concert Band performs classic and contemporary wind band music and is proud to present the music of six visiting Guest Composers each academic year.
Large and Small Jazz Ensembles present original compositions and traditional literature in as many as ten concerts per year. These students also have the opportunity to work with many guest artists visiting the campus as part of the Legends of Jazz Concert Series and The Bakersfield Jazz Festival.
The Guitar Ensemble performs twice per quarter and focuses on newly composed music for multiple guitars as well as traditional repertoire that has been arranged or transcribed for guitars.
