Dr. Soo-Yeon Park

Pianist Soo-Yeon Park is an accomplished musician with extensive experience as a collaborative pianist and vocal/opera coach.  She has collaborated with Long Beach Opera, California Conducting Institute, Opera Pacific, Intimate Opera, USC Thornton Opera, National Association of Teachers of Singing, Classical Singers Association, and Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra.  She has also worked closely with renowned conductors such as Jorge Master, John DeMain, Daniel Lewis, Donald Thulean, and John Farrer.  Her summer festival appearances include London Piano Festival in UK, Korean Chamber Orchestra Summer Music Festival in Korea, Algonquin International Music Festival in Canada, SongFest, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. 

Dr. Park received her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Seoul National University and her Master’s Degree in Piano/Ensemble Arts from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University.  She earned her Doctorate in Keyboard Collaborative Arts from the University of Southern California.  She was a recipient of the Gwendolyn and Adolph Koldofsky Memorial Endowed Scholarship for four consecutive years and was chosen as the outstanding graduate in the program.  Dr. Chang was also a winner of the 2011 International Women’s Day Award in Arts & Entertainment for Kern County, California.

Formerly Dr. Park served as faculty and opera coach/staff pianist at Antelope Valley College, Pasadena City College, and California Institute of the Arts.  She is currently a full time faculty member at California State University, Bakersfield, where she serves as coordinator of Piano Studies, co-directs the chamber music program, and directs the opera program.
