Admission Procedures
General Procedures for Application
Prospective music students must be accepted by the University before auditioning for enrollment in the Music Department. Students can apply to the University online, or request a paper application from the Admissions Office at CSU Bakersfield (661.654.3036 or admissions@csub.edu). If the student has general questions regarding admission to the University, consult the Admission Office website. This site provides deadlines, requirements, and answers to many frequently asked questions.
Auditions
The Department of Music holds auditions twice during the academic year, February and August.For more information please see our dedicated Auditions site!

Student Advising
Every Music Major is assigned an advisor. Consult the Music Department Office (MUS BLDG 102) for the name of your advisor. Music majors are expected to meet with their advisor prior to registration every quarter.Formulate a tentative schedule before you meet with your advisor (before you register for classes). If necessary, consult the sample 4, 5 and 6 year schedules on the Department website.
The Music Department maintains a file on each student. It is important to update this file each quarter with current address, phone numbers and email addresses.
