Non-majors should audition for their entry and placement in all of the CSUB music ensembles. Contact the director in charge to set up an introductory audition and "Welcome" to the music program.
Open by audition to all University students, faculty, staff, and members of the community, this is the University's principle concert choir. Repertoire includes music from all periods and styles with special emphasis on "classical music from the sixteenth century to the present. The CSUB University Singers perform annually with the Bakersfield Master Chorale and Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra and also participate in the CSUB Choir Day Festival and off campus festivals, and both national and international tours. An elite mixed ensemble of up to 24 voices selected by competitive audition from across the region and includes mainly advanced music majors along with excellent singers from across the campus, the CSUB Chamber Singers have been featured performers in both Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and have participated in internationally broadcast performances from the Kennedy Center and the steps of the National Archives in Washington D.C. The Chamber Singers have worked with many international figures in choral music including Drs. Craig Jessup, Anton Armstrong, Andre Thomas, and Bradley Ellingboe. Dr. Robert Provencio, director.
Open by audition to all qualified singers, these workshops produce scenes and full-length operas. Students work on all aspects of the production from set design and construction to starring and leading roles. Dr. Soo-Yeon Chang, director.
