Top 10 Things You Should Know About the Library

1. Get your Runner Card ID in Lab A on the Lower Level of the Library. Use your ID card to check out books and/or add money to it for printing and copying using the Value Transfer Stations in the copy room on Level 2 and Lab A. Books can be borrowed for four weeks and you can generally renew books online or in-person.  For more information regarding your Runner Card ID go to http://www.csub.edu/IRTS/RunnerID/ID_Card.htx

2. The librarians at the Reference Desk are there to answer your questions and help you with your research. So ask them!  Stop by, call 661-654-3231 or chat 24/7 with a live Reference Librarian http://www.csub.edu/library/  Click on "Ask a Librarian" under "Quick Links".
For individual research assistance, you can schedule an appointment with a librarian who specializes in your subject area.  For more info go to http://www.csub.edu/library/assistance.shtml

3. The Library’s Homepage URL is http://www.csub.edu/library To find readings professors put on Reserve: Go to the Check Out Desk or click on the Course Reserves button found at  http://www.csub.edu/library, (many items may be available online).

4. Although many resources are online, some are only in print or on microfiche/microfilm.
  • Books with call numbers from A-L are on Level 3, M-Z on Level 4.
  • Print journals and microforms are on Level 2.
New books and current issues of popular magazines and journals are in the Reading Room on Level 1. Reference, law, and juvenile books are also on Level 1.

5. You can check out a RoamAbout card from the Check-out Desk for a wireless internet connection from your laptop computer anywhere inside the library.

6. Find electronic full text journals and scholarly sources from Library databases. You can access the online library resources anywhere you have an internet connection. Off campus access to the periodical databases requires you to log on with your Runner ID Card number. Read the instructions on the screen.

7. InterLibrary Loan Services are available for obtaining library materials that the Library does not own or have access to through Library databases. If we don't have it, we can get it for you! Go to:  http://www.csub.edu/library/interlibraryloan.shtml

8. There are 24 Group Study Rooms on Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4. Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. CSUB students have priority.
