General Circulation Information

We want to provide you with a comfortable, clean and quiet place to study and conduct research. Your help in maintaining an environment conducive to scholarly endeavors is greatly appreciated.

ASK FOR HELP. We want to ensure you find the information you seek, so please ask librarians and Library staff for help or directions.

CELLULAR PHONES. To avoid disrupting other Library patrons, cellular phones may not be used inside the building. Public pay phones are available across from the elevators on the Library's Lower Level.

FOOD AND DRINKS are not permitted inside the Library building. Drinking fountains and restrooms are situated across from the main elevators on each floor.

The use of TOBACCO PRODUCTS, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, snuff and pipes is not permitted in the Library building.

GROUP STUDY ROOMS are available on the Third and Fourth floors for groups of two or more persons on a first-come basis, with priority given to CSUB students.

QUIET AREAS. The Library's Electronic Reference area and the Dezember Reading Room on the Main floor have been designated as Quiet Areas.

APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR. Members of the campus community and others can expect to be treated in a courteous and professional manner by library staff. In turn, users and visitors are expected to engage in behavior that does not interfere with these efforts and that does not result in improper use of the library's facilities. CSUB is committed to creating and maintaining a safe working, learning, and social environment for all students, employees, and visitors which is free from violence, threats, intimidation, hostile acts, and disruptive behavior.

Talking is allowed at low levels, but should not disturb others. No noise in designated quiet areas.

The library is not to be used as a place to sleep; aisles and walk spaces are to remain freely passable at all times; placing feet on furniture and/or sitting on the arms of chairs can diminish the appearance and structural integrity and is inappropriate.

The University has a zero tolerance for potentially violent or violent acts against any member of the campus environment or against any property.

Theft, attempted theft, or vandalism of any Library materials or property will be reported to Campus Police for appropriate action.

Please report any disruptive activity or other problems to Library staff at the Circulation Desk on the main floor, or call Campus Police at Ext. 2111 from any phone in the Library.

EMERGENCY CALLBOXES are situated in the stairwell at the east and west sides of each floor. These link directly to Campus Police.

STUDENT ID OR COMMUNITY CARD ID is required to check out Library materials. The RunnerCard ID Office is located in Room 203 on the Library's Second floor.

LOST AND FOUND is located at the Checkout Desk on the main floor.

AFTER-HOURS Computer Lab Access. For access to Computer Labs and the 24-Hour Study Room after the Library is closed, use the ground-level entry on the west side of the building.

FIRE ALARMS, Emergency Evacuation. In the event of a fire alarm, please evacuate the building and proceed to the lawn area east of the Library to await clearance to re-enter the building.

ELECTRONIC REFERENCE AREA (Main Floor). This is where to begin your research, receive suggestions on how to find information, and to seek guidance in using our search systems, databases and Reference materials.

The CHECKOUT DESK/RESERVES COUNTER is located just inside the main entrance where circulating materials and Reserve items are checked out.
