Faculty Authors Collection

The Stiern Library will add to the Faculty Authors Collection a copy of every book written, edited, or translated by a CSUB faculty member or other staff member. Books containing chapters or essays by CSUB authors are included. Books written before, during, or after their service here are also included.

Location

The Faculty Authors Collection is shelved in the Dezember Reading Room.

Cataloging

Books in the Faculty Authors Collection are fully cataloged with notes that the author or contributor is a CSUB faculty member. The notes look like this: CSUB faculty author: Carlos Lozano. It is our goal that anyone using the catalog will be able to find every book in the Library by a given professor, including books to which the professor contributed chapters or essays. It is also possible to enter CSUB faculty as a search term and find all the books by CSUB authors. Classification numbers are for the subject of the book, and the labels are headed, "Faculty Books."

Circulation

Books in the Faculty Authors Collection circulate.

Multiple Copies

If there is only one copy, it should go into the Faculty Authors Collection. If there is a second copy, that will go in the main collection on the Third or Fourth Floor. We will always accept a second copy of any faculty author's book. More than two copies will be held only when heavy use is expected.

Gift Plates

Gift plates will be put in newly acquired books by faculty authors, if the books are in fact gifts. They are treated like any other gift.

Maintenance and Repair

Books in the Faculty Authors Collection are treated like other circulating books. No special effort will be made to preserve the original cover or the jacket.
