Community Card Holder Privileges

  • Community Card holders can check out a maximum of five circulating books.
  • The loan period is four weeks.
  • A book may be renewed once, if another borrower has not requested it. Books can be renewed in person or by using the Library's Book Renewal Form .

Community Card Holder Responsibilities

  • If a recall request has been placed on a book by CSUB faculty, staff or student, it is subject to immediate recall and can not be renewed.
  • Returning books in a timely fashion is the borrower's responsibility. Library privileges will be suspended when the borrower has three (3) overdue books and/or $25 in fines. Overdue materials are fined at the rate of $0.50 per day to a maximum fine of $20. After ten (10) days an overdue notice will be sent to the borrower. Borrower's claims of non-receipt of overdue notices have no impact on the fine levy. If a book is not returned within thirty-five (35) days of the original due date, the Library will bill the borrower for replacement of the book at a minimum of $40, plus a state-mandated processing fee.
  • Community access cards will not be renewed for patrons with unpaid fines or unreturned materials. Failure to clear this library obligation will result in your registration packet being withheld and transcript requests denied. The University routinely refers unpaid obligations to the State Franchise Tax Board for liens against tax refunds. The University may also refer unpaid accounts to outside collection agencies. If an account is sent to a collection agency or litigated, the student may be required to pay additional costs of collection.
