How to Find a Topographic Map

If you do not know exactly the title of the map you are looking for, you can use the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) to find any topographical quadrangle map in the United States, including rivers, mountains, valleys, and human-built structures.
Directions: Go to http://geonames.usgs.gov/domestic/index.html
Click on Search GNIS. Enter the name of the feature you are looking for and any other available location information. The result gives you the name of the map you are looking for.
You may also want to look at the topographic map index of California which is stored in the first drawer of the cabinet.
