Financial Assistance & Scholarships for International Students

Financial assistance is available for international students at CSUB! With a little effort and some research, some international students have successfully secured financial assistance. International students should note that they are not eligible for federal or state financial aid programs; however, there are numerous scholarship opportunities.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Tuition waivers (= 12 units/quarter) for an academic year are available for new incoming and returning international students. Undergraduate programs candidates are recommended through the office of International Students & Programs. In addition, departmental scholarships are available for international students through on-campus employment.

Exchange Students

Exchange students do not pay CSUB tuition and therefore are not eligible for CSUB sponsored financial assistance with food& housing, books, health insurance and personal expenses. However, students may obtain financial assistance through internship or on-campus employment.

Graduate Students

Tuition waivers (= 8 units/quarter) for an academic year are available for new incoming and returning international graduate students. Graduate candidates are recommended through the departments to which they are admitted. Graduate students are strongly encouraged to contact their department chairperson or coordinators to inquire about Graduate Assistantship (GA) and Teaching Assistantship (TA) positions. This is an excellent source of financial support that is offered to top students.
