Dr.Dirk Baron

Dr. Dirk Baron is a Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences where he teaches and conducts research on environmental geochemistry and groundwater hydrology. He is the recipient of the 2010/2011 CSUB Faculty Research Award and currently the Project Director for the Title V Part B grant that funds the new Graduate Student Center. Dr. Baron grew up in Germany and came to the United States as an exchange student in 1987. After 9 years in Portland, Oregon and a year in Pasadena at the California Institute of Technology, he has been at CSUB since 1997. In his free time, he enjoys self-propelled outdoor activities such as backcountry skiing, hiking, biking, backpacking, kayaking, and whitewater rafting.
