1970s

Michael Olague

Michael Olague ('77, BS business administration) is currently on the executive board for Mid State Development, advisory board for CSUB business school, and board member for Kern Economic Development. He is the chief administrative officer for Rabobank, responsible for the coordination and implementation of the tactical initiatives that support the organization's policies, goals, and objectives of the bank.







Patricia Reed ('73, BA fine arts/education; '85 MA education) has been a teacher in the Panama Buena Vista Union School District for 31 years…all at Amy B. Seibert School. She was among one of the first graduating classes.

1980s

Sylvia Fimbres Arambula ('89 BA child development) is employed by the Bakersfield City School District as a third grade teacher. She is married to Edward Arambula, who is also a CSUB alumnus.

Patricia (Rider) Sentianin ('83, BSN nursing) and Bernard Sentianin ('84 BS geology)Patricia (Rider) Sentianin ('83, BSN nursing) and Bernard Sentianin ('84 BS geology) have been married for 24 years this October and have three children. They are both working in their fields of interest and met at CSUB in the dorms.

1990s

Dion Stephan Alarid ('93, BS business administration) has worked in school finance and county finance as business director and budget administrator for nearly 15 years. He works with a charter school today in Santa Fe, N.M., as the business manager and often wonders what life is like now at CSUB.

Cynthia T. Alipio ('99, BA sociology; '04 MA sociology) retired from the Kern County Mental Health Department in December 2006 and went to work for Aspira WRAP as a facilitator (social worker). She is enjoying her single life and is also a singles group leader at her church, New Life Center. She is also attending NLC School of Ministry and hopes to graduate in June 2009.

Oscar Chavez ('97, BA political science) is currently the executive director of the Community Action Partnership in Santa Rosa. His goal is to diversify the funding stream by developing a social-purpose business venture along with earned-income strategies while also expanding private-sector partnerships that can improve the social and economic conditions of low-income residents in Sonoma County. He was recently nominated and selected as one of the 40 Leaders Under 40 for the Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties.

Brenda Duncan Cusick ('91, BS business administration; '92, MBA) worked for CSUB's Extended University as the director of professional programs from 1994-1998. She is now the marketing and communications director for Servoy, B.V., a software company that makes platforms for business applications. Everyday Brenda uses the marketing skills she learned at CSUB to oversee the marketing, public relations and events for the firm. She is married to Bob Cusick and they have 8-year-old boy/girl twins. She runs a Girl Scout Brownie troop, volunteers for the PTA at the children's schools, reads, and, in her spare time, scrapbooks.

Rick Teubner (‘91, BS accounting) and Dolores Buddell-Teubner (‘89 political science; ‘92 MPA)Rick Teubner (‘91, BS accounting) and Dolores Buddell-Teubner (‘89 political science; ‘92 MPA) recently relocated to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Rick is an internal auditor with Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil producer. Dolores is a stay-at-home mom with two kids, Matthew, 8, and Hannah, 7.

2000s

Adam Alvarez ('00, BA psychology; '04, MPA) recently started a new career with Chevron North American Exploration and Production as a policy, government and public affairs representative. He works with a team of public affairs professionals dedicated to enhancing Chevron's global image and reputation. He is responsible for developing and implementing several community relations initiatives, building key partnerships in communities through grants and sponsored programs, and managing special projects.

Emily Cantrell

Edward Arambula ('03, BS business administration/human resource management) is a technical recruiter for W.M. Bolthouse Farms and is also a new grandfather to his first granddaughter, Emily Cantrell. Edward is married to Sylvia Fimbres Arambula, who is also a CSUB alumnus.







Martin J. GoniMartin J. Goni ('01, BS business administration and music) has been elected president of the Bakersfield Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) for 2008-09. His firm provides attest, tax, litigation and consulting services. Martin is a member of the French horn section of the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra.

Kendra Gray ('06, BA communications) is a graduate assistant at Stephen F. Austin State University working towards a master's degree in communications. She is also coaching swimming for ETEX swim team and loves to travel.






Rudy HernandezRudy Hernandez ('01, BA communications; '07, MSW) was one of 1,000 individuals selected to be a delegate at the Lance Armstrong Foundation's second LiveStrong Summit in Columbus, Ohio. While there, Rudy (on left) attended a town hall meeting featuring presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain, Armstrong and newscaster Paula Zahn. He also participated in fundraising workshops and networked with other cancer survivors, like himself, working to make a difference in their own communities.

Marc Oceguera ('00, BS biology) is currently a physical therapist with Cirque du Soleil.

Rufino Frank Ramos ('03, MPA public administration) was recently hired to fill a new position as director of evening, weekend and emergency programs and services at Mission College in Santa Clara.

Lori R. Rivera ('05, BA criminal justice) continued adding to her resume after graduation by completing a PC832 course. She began working as a substitute teacher while testing for jobs in her field of study. She is now working as a special investigator for the California Department of Food and Agriculture and has been happily married since December 2007.

Hanh D. Truong ('01, MS counseling psychology) works full-time for Orange County in the Cultural Competency department. He conducts clinical training for countywide and statewide conferences. He has also been a keynote speaker for statewide conferences.
